As the social work team we were delighted to create safe environments for the families that we worked with in Q4. Our social work team has been committed to promoting psychosocial support services to individuals, families, and communities in need. As a team, we took some time to reflect on the various cases that we have worked on throughout the year.
We are pleased with what we have achieved in terms of the outcomes. We successfully supported families in accessing birth certificates, child support grants, school placements and social services which enabled them to improve their well-being. Additionally, we provided counselling and therapeutic services to individuals, helping them to cope with trauma and mental health issues. It is so encouraging that we worked so well with various government departments towards reaching children at risk, especially the Department of Social Development. Although we have closed a significant number of cases pertaining to families and children, it is clear that there are still many families and children in the informal settlements who are facing massive challenges around safety, maltreatment, neglect, hunger and other social ills. As we end this year, I would like to wish you all a lovely, wonderful festive season filled with joy, love peace and happiness. To the communities that we serve, you have empowered and entrusted us with your lives. We respect you in your journey towards shaping your children and building thriving households and families. We salute you. May you continue to thrive to be inclusive communities which are getting stronger, safer and more compassionate every day. Thank you. Ntombovuyo Bongoza SISO Social Worker
