MEET THE TEAM
Sikhula Sonke Early Childhood Development has a staff complement of approximately 40. The team includes a Community Development Manager, Social Worker (with a team of auxiliary social workers and junior social workers), Monitoring & Evaluation Officer, HR, Office Manager and Team Leaders who each have field workers reporting in on the different projects in different areas in Khayelitsha. The SISO team reports to our Executive Director, who in turn reports directly to our Board of Directors.

Mdebuka Mtwazi
Executive Director |
Mdebuka holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science from the University of Cape Town, a Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Management and a NQF Level 4 Early Childhood Development Certificate. Mdebuka is also a fully qualified Level 5 Assessor. He is highly knowledgeable and practiced and has several years of experience as an ECD development officer, coordinator and facilitator. He has led Sikhula Sonke for more than 15 years.

Evan Torrance

Evan holds three degrees including an MBA, Bachelor of Business Science (Marketing) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Management). He has extensive experience in the retail and marketing sector.

Sindiswa Dapula
Board member |
Sindiswa serves as an ECD Community Liaison on the board of Sikhula Sonke ECD. She is an experienced and qualified ECD principal with ECD management and ECD level 5 qualifications. Sindiswa runs Little Star, a registered Educare Facility located in Ilitha Park in Khayelitsha. Little Star employs five trained ECD practitioners and has been running for more than 10 years.

Jenny Klein

Jenny is a Tax Manager at Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs (ENS) and holds a Bachelor of Business Science (LLB) degree, a Post Graduate Diploma in Tax, and is an Advocate of the High Court of SA. Jenny has served on the Board for more than 10 years.

Janet is Sikhula Sonke’s financial manager and Board secretary. She has a Bachelor of Commerce degree and has served Sikhula Sonke since its inception.
