Sikhula Sonke and the children of Khayelitsha took part in Read Aloud Day on Friday, in partnership with Nal'ibali. The children sat entranced as Abonga, the toy librarian, read a story about Neo in our Toy Library Centre. As always, a big thanks to all our Facilitators who took part and to Nal'ibali for their support and the materials. It's fantastic to have a great team behind the scenes who make sure that all our events have the necessary materials to make each one a success!
Persona Dolls are part of the Sikhula Sonke fieldworkers' toolkit and we do training on the many uses of Persona Dolls every year. This year's training taught our First 1000 days fieldworkers (FCM) and our Emthonjeni fieldworkers how to use Persona Dolls in advocating and facilitating different messages across the communities to parents and caregivers. Our facilitators did a great job; thank you Phelisa (Persona Doll) and Thembi (Sikhula Sonke).
Sikhula Sonke was glad to host visitors Udo and Monika from Germany last week. They encouraged us with their interest and support of the work that we are doing in Khayelitsha.
It's amazing how we can connect different nations when together we have a heart for children and the future.
Our Sikhula Sonke team embarked on a team building exercise on Friday 5th under a great concept LEAD. (L=Looking out for others, E= Endurance by ending well, A= Attitude, D=Discipline). We all loved different activities in this journey.
Thank you to Ezrah Community Training and Development NPC for supporting us and conducting this powerful exercise. Everybody came out of the exercise refreshed and rejuvenated.
