South Africa is in lockdown and our offices have officially been closed for over two weeks now. Children who receive a daily meal at preschool and the playgroups have been unable to attend. So, since the children cannot come to us (and Child Support Grants don't cover the food that a single child needs per month since the Grant often has to feed a whole family), our Sikhula Sonke team members have been given permission to go out into the community to distribute food!
Grateful thanks to our partners in food distribution, JAM South Africa, and to organisations like HCI Foundation for partnering with us to get food parcels to vulnerable families. A special mention of a local family who donated R12,000 this week into our food relief efforts in Khayelitsha.
Proud to be part of this village who cares for its people!!
