We talked about the importance of Child Protection this week all over Khayelitsha.
Our teams were joined by Metro Police, City of Cape Town's Fire and Rescue Team and The Carel Du Toit Centre who conducted hearing and sight screening for us. It was a jam-packed week that started with World Play Day and a lot of rain! Our team quickly moved to a local church and over 500 children from different community preschools joined us for demonstrations by the police dogs, fire safety training, skits and plays and some singing and games. Each child and caregiver received lunch and snacks. Many children also were given hearing screening and visual testing to check eyes and ears - picking up problems early can help tremendously with schooling. The week continued with community dialagues throughout Khayelitsha, and some radio programmes with Radio Khaltsha. Thank you to all our sponsors, partner organisations and teams who worked so very hard to make this an impactful week!
