The management of Sikhula Sonke has decided to suspend all its playgroup activities for the next 14 days due to the adjusted Lockdown Level 4, starting on Monday 28 June (today).
The current COVID variant is spreading fast. When the schools are closed, our spaces will be filled with children not just from our playgroups but also those who were previously our students, siblings of playgroup children and community children at large. These children are not just coming for play, fun and leisure but they know that it’s the place that they will get food now that the schools are closed. As an organisation we cannot afford to have huge numbers in the spaces. As part of helping children that we are currently working with, we will make arrangements with caregivers to come and collect porridge at the Emthonjeni public spaces. The SISO offices will remain open for admin, emergencies and raising funds for food parcels to complement the porridge that will be distributed to caregivers. Office hours are from 08h30 - 14h00. Ten of our staff will be on duty, rotating every day. Stay safe, Mdebuka Mthwazi - Executive Director
