Sikhula Sonke's "Funda Udlale Toy Library" programme hosted a library week last week. The library facilitators decided to reach out to pre-schools who don’t have the means to come to our library sessions and/or are remote from the library.
The team arranged different developmentally appropriate games and activities like eye and hand co-ordination games with a lot of balancing and also physical development games to get children moving. The week was all about play and games! To finish off, on Friday we invited and collected some of the ECD centres for a special day. Our indoor games included balancing games, face painting and board games, as well as some physical games which strengthen larger muscles. Our favourite outdoor "game" was bouncing on the jumping castles! Our team interacted with 19 children on Monday, 41 on Tuesday, 40 on Wednesday, 45 on Thursday and an amazing 117 children joined us for Friday's finale. Thanks to all who participated and to the ECDs for inviting us into your spaces!
