Growing together together with our Imbiza FCM team, all sorts of good things are happening at UT Gardens. Parents are very positive about all the innovations in the programme. We have partnered with Nanny ‘n Me to reach out to young children. We are so excited about this partnership, especially as Miss Zandile Mahola used to be one of our Facilitators at Sikhula Sonke before joining Nanny ‘n Me.
Miss Thembi Nxesi, our Community Development Manager, and UT Gardens Team Leader Miss Nolitha Gana applaud Miss Mahola taking time to plough back into our organisation from where she started.

All I want for Christmas... is a classroom! For those who are looking for a Christmas present that is a very special gift, we've got just the right thing for you. We have 60% of the funds already and just need R22,000 to make this dream a reality for some precious children from our Emthonjeni programmes. Get sharing and let's make it happen!
https://www.givengain.com/cc/a-classroom-for-christmas/ To our Teacher Training Class of ‘21: you’ve done it! We are SO very proud of your perseverance, commitment and effort this year. Congratulations on your achievement!
Our gardening project is showing the fruit of the many who have laboured! Fresh veg for dinner, anyone?
Thank you to the men from our Fatherhood Network in Mew Way for preparing the ground for our first food gardens, and to JAM SA for the water tanks that will catch rainwater for the gardens.
Thank you to fathers from the Fatherhood Network for building a safer playground for children in our Emthonjeni programme in Mew Way, Khayelitsha.
The management of Sikhula Sonke has decided to suspend all its playgroup activities for the next 14 days due to the adjusted Lockdown Level 4, starting on Monday 28 June (today).
The current COVID variant is spreading fast. When the schools are closed, our spaces will be filled with children not just from our playgroups but also those who were previously our students, siblings of playgroup children and community children at large. These children are not just coming for play, fun and leisure but they know that it’s the place that they will get food now that the schools are closed. As an organisation we cannot afford to have huge numbers in the spaces. As part of helping children that we are currently working with, we will make arrangements with caregivers to come and collect porridge at the Emthonjeni public spaces. The SISO offices will remain open for admin, emergencies and raising funds for food parcels to complement the porridge that will be distributed to caregivers. Office hours are from 08h30 - 14h00. Ten of our staff will be on duty, rotating every day. Stay safe, Mdebuka Mthwazi - Executive Director |
