Sikhula Sonke is excited to be partnering with FAMSA this year to bring fresh parenting material to the caregivers and parents of young children in our programmes. A week of training kicked off on 21 June. We're excited to welcome 18 participants to this hands-on, informative and fun training at our training centre in Harare Square, Khayelitsha.

Thanks to a group of fathers from Mew Way, our ECD Centre now has fencing, a gate and the start of a food garden that will ensure that children have fresh food each day. The Fatherhood Network is an outreach that encourages fathers to become more involved in their children's lives and education from an early age. We are super-grateful to these dads for digging in and all their hard work!
In support of Child Protection Week 2021, the Sikhula Sonke offices have "gone green". We firmly believe that child protection is EVERYONE's business!
The South African Government committed to ECD relief funding for the crucial ECDs who prepare our children for formal schooling. Much of this funding has not been forthcoming.
Today, after we finished our training for local ECD principals, our staff took some time to picket in front of our offices and call for government to respond. ECDs are the starting blocks for our children. After COVID, our ECDs are struggling financially and many have had to close due to lack of funding. #PayTheECDReliefFunds Congratulations to Papama Matheza who has been appointed our new Planning, Assessment, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for 2021. Papama has been with Sikhula Sonke ECD for more than 8 years. He has served in a number of roles including Child Protection Ambassador, ELOM Assessor (Early Learning Outcomes Measure Assessor), Networker and the Children & Youth Officer for the Khayelitsha Youth Desk. We wish him all the best in his new role!
A warm welcome to our partner Families South Africa (FAMSA) who are providing parenting skills training to young parents in our caregiver program. The first FAMSA training took place at the end of March for 40 caregivers. The attendees learnt about developmental milestones, nutrition, attitudes and behaviours, and went home with new toolkits of parenting skills to practice. We're so excited about this new partnership and all the opportunities for caregivers through FAMSA's great material and training resources.
Sikhula Sonke is privileged to have many supporters, friends and donors in our family. This is a personal message from us to you as we end the year..
Thank you to Joint Aid Management (South Africa)! Once again this dedicated team has sponsored Christmas gifts and food parcels for children in our programmes! Your heart for our communities is amazing and we appreciate all you do!
